So who are Knitting Needle Lane – Where are we based – What do we do – What’s our story ??
Knitting Needle Lane was established in 2017 by Camilla. After the closure of Cambridge’s beloved local yarn shop (which rippled shock waves throughout the crafty community) and after seriously considering purchasing it – but realising no extra time to run a shop as owning another local independent business takes a lot of time www.cambridgeclassics.co.uk
Knitting Needle Lane was born ….. !!!
Knitting Needle Lane is a street in the beautiful Norfolk seaside town of Wells-Next-Sea – Camilla has been visiting this town for many years so this seemed a perfect name match.
Camilla has been knitting since the age of 7. Over the years enjoying different skill levels and the wonderful therapeutic properties that needle craft can offer. KNL was started as an online shop with a Cambridge market stall application in the pipeline – KNL started trading on Cambridge market every Thursday until December 2017 where it was quickly established that Sundays were an ideal day for a market stall. Cambridge market on a Sunday is a beautiful atmosphere with lots of lovely crafty stalls – KNL trade every Sunday between 10am – 4pm – if KNL are not going to be there, as sometimes ‘life happens’ they’ll keep you updated via social media pages – not social ? Give us a quick call to check ahead if you are planning a special trip as we really don’t like to disappoint 01223 561865
KNL have won various ‘Customer Service’ awards for their market stall – this means when you visit you are welcomed by a friendly face happy to help you with any request or just listen to your crafty chat !
In 2019 KNL decided to launch workshops – creating a stunningly colourful but mindfully calm space within their headquarters – workshop spaces are limited to 6 per person which means you have the room and space to breath offering you a lovely crafty space to complete your course – all workshops come with a KNL goodie bag with all the materials you need to complete a course – which means you don’t have to pay for your space and then pay for extras. By creating this space KNL now have all their lovely stock lines on show which means you can also shop onsite.
So relatively speaking KNL are not a brix and mortar shop on the high street .. Not yet anyway .. But they are a fiercely independent business striving to succeed in these uncertain retail times. They are your friendly local yarn shop who can offer you a stunning array of hand dyed yarns – mainstream brands and any crafty Knitting/Crochet advice that you need.
